I understand that coming to counselling is a big step, can feel overwhelming, and that you may feel worried about it. That is completely normal and is something we can talk about together.
Being a teenager can be an exciting time — but it can also be confusing, overwhelming, and really difficult. You might be feeling anxious, low, angry, or just not like yourself. Maybe things are going on at home, school, with friends or relationships — or maybe you’re not sure what’s wrong, but you know something doesn’t feel okay. You don’t need to have a specific “problem” to come to counselling. Sometimes, it’s just about having someone to talk to who’s not part of your everyday life.
I have worked with young people in different settings for many years and have a good awareness of the challenges which you may face, but everybody is unique, you are the expert on your own life, you choose what to bring to your sessions and we will work at your pace.
My counselling sessions are all about you. This is a space where you can talk openly, without judgment, pressure, or anyone telling you what to do. You’re free to bring whatever’s on your mind — big or small — and we’ll go at your pace. I will provide you with a safe, warm empathic space where you will be listened to, heard and fully accepted without judgement. You choose what you want to talk about, and we can agree together what you would like to achieve from your counselling. You can also choose what you would like to do in your sessions. Many young people prefer to work more creatively, for example, through art, imagery, stories, games, clay. But if this isn’t your thing, that is also absolutely fine!
I offer a calm, supportive, friendly, and respectful environment in a private, warm, comfortable space where you can explore how you feel, find your own voice, and begin to make sense of things. Together, we can work towards a better understanding of yourself, your choices, and your strengths.
Sessions are confidential, within safeguarding limits, and are always centred around what feels right for you. Please do get in touch if you would like to understand more about counselling with me and about how we could work together; I am happy to answer any questions which you may have.
